Use of Photographic & Video Images of Children/Young People Under the Age of 18 Policy Statement


Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers are committed to providing a safe environment for children/young people, under the age of 18, to participate in athletics. Essential to this commitment, is to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to protect children/young people from the inappropriate use of photographic images.

Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers have adopted the following good practice guidelines, issued by UK Athletics;

Publishing Images

  •  Using a consent form, we will ask for permission of young athletes and their carers to take and use their image. If an athlete is named, we will avoid using their photograph.


  •  If a photograph is used, we avoid naming the athlete.


  •  We will NEVER publish personal details (e-mail Addresses telephone numbers, addresses etc.) of a child/ young person.


  •  We will only authorise the use of images of athletes in suitable dress (tracksuits, running kit, i.e. t-shirt/shorts/skirt/ off track clothing)

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
