Stephan And Nicola Take Gold In Harriers Club Championship

The year drew to a close with 14 Harriers among the 536 finishers of the muddy Jolly Holly Jog 10k!  This popular race is always going to be affected by weather conditions, and this year was no exception, with continuous rain for weeks and a downpour the night before turning the tough course into a quagmire in places.  Nevertheless most people seemed to end up smiling if mud splattered!  Julian Norton was first club finisher, 15th in 39.51 with Rob Burn next, 91st in 46.37,  Rob Lickley 120th in 48.22,  Les Sutton-Haigh 160th in 50.59,  Geoff Bullock 186th in 52.12,  Tom Calvert 204th in 53.04,  Ken Evitt 346th in 61.21,  David Goddard 363rd in 62.24,  Christine Burn 396th in 64.15,  Yvonne Wood 404th in 64.55,  Nik Sutton-Haigh 412th in 65.47,  Ian Codling 479th in 72.28,  Pam Sherlock 515th in 79.44 and Marian Codling 517th in 80.28.
A few days earlier, Hester Cox was at the Gisborough Woods Fell Race on a mild day with odd showers  and finished 77th out of 145 runners in a time of 59.38.
At the Club Christmas dinner and presentation evening, the award for men’s Club Champion 2012 was made to Stephan Tomaszewski, with Rob Burn 2nd and Geoff Bullock 3rd.  The ladies’ award was won by Nicola Booth, with Christine Burn 2nd and Marian Codling 3rd.  Martyn Coy received the trophy for the most improved male and Fran jeffery for the most improved female.  Steve Booth collected the Endeavour Award.
The club resumes its activities after a winter break at Thirsk School on Jan 7th  when senior runners of all abilities will be welcome.
