Race Report w/c //

It was a momentous weekend for Josh Fothergill as he completed his 1000th mile of the year at the Fountains Abbey Park Run, finishing in a superb 2nd place out of 339 in 17.36. He had been raising funds for Wendy’s Wish to the memory of a favourite Godmother he lost to cancer several years ago.  Family members were there to support him and cheer him on, and his father, Duncan, came 67th in a very creditable 23.34.  Other club members were Mike Cropper, 26th in 20.50, Paul Bradford 75th in PB 23.54, Heather Bell 121st, also with PB of 25.23, Trish Radford 175th in 27.31, Ian Codling 318th in 38.11 and Marian Codling 327th in 39.48.  New member, Ellen Brookes, did her first parkrun at Northallerton and came 58th out of 66 in 34.05 and Peter Richardson at Darlington was 63rd out of 229 in 24.45.  Lorraine Hiles tried the Flatts Lane event and finished 15th out of 38, 3rd lady, in 26.20.

Further afield, Martyn and Faith Coy were among the 59 finishers at Henley on Thames, Martyn coming 9th in 23.11 and Faith 24th in 28.13.  The following day, 8 members were among the field of 139 at the Whixley 10k, a multi terrain race based on the very attractive village of Whixley. Stephan Tomaszewski, on fine form as ever, finished 13th in 40.57, Andy Butcher 40th in 47.39, David Tervit 49th in 48.18, Sara Langstaff 90th in 55.30, ably supported by her friend Heather Bell who was given the same time.   Alison Butcher came 108th in 58.50, Ian Codling 137th in 77.32 and Marian Codling 139th in 85.22. Ian won an age-group prize and Stephan and Sara were both 3rd in their respective ages.
