Race Report 26/11/19

The latest NYSD Cross Country fixture took place at the weekend at Fox Rush Farm, Redcar, and once again the club was mostly dependent on its older members for representation.  Those who ran enjoyed the interesting course, through woodland and trails, with plenty of mud in places.  The ladies had to do 2 laps, approximating to about 6k, and Jill Libby was first club finisher, 73rd out of 106 in 34.06, Alison Butcher 90th in 37.30, Christine Burn 103rd in 44.54 and Marian Codling 106th in 56.08.

The V65+ men also ran with the ladies, Rob Burn taking 27.19, Geoff Bullock 32.19. Ken Evitt 36.21 and Ian Codling 52.22.

Well done to the three men who ran in the senior race over about 9k.  Stephan Tomaszewski set the pace, 76th out of 147 in 38.48, Mick Cropper 96th in 40.29 and David Tervit 117th in 42.57.

The previous day, there was a field of 338 at Fountains Abbey Park Run, Adrian Saunders finishing 62nd in 23.06, David Palmer 216th in 31.37, Paul Adams 242 in 32.37 and Linda Bamforth 252nd in 33.11.  There was a mix up with the tokens from about the 300 mark, and Ian Codling, celebrating his 900th race in total, took about 38.45, Marian Codling 40.43.

Jack Spence was impressive at Northallerton, coming 2nd out of 48 in 20.48.  At Coyngham Hall, Mick Cropper came 3rd out of 81 in 21.55 and Jemma Cropper 68th in 35.06.  The Castle Howard course, over 2 laps, is fairly flat, and Alan Simpson was 8th out of 98 in 21.57, Gary Wilkinson 33rd in PB 24.31 and Kimberli Werner 89th in 38.24.
