Race Report 21/11/17

A large number of members were away at the annual club visit to the Lake District so some of the regulars were missing from the NYSD Cross Country event at Preston Park, organised by Stockton Striders. The lovely course on a fine, cold morning, was quite testing, with tufted grass in places making for hard going.  Josh Fothergill, in superb form just now, was 5th out of 18 boys in the U17 event in 21.09.  Charlotte Wilton, also flying at the moment, came 17th out of 102 in 25.29 over a 5.7k course in the women’s race.  Faith Coy was 79th in 32.45 and Marian Codling 102nd in 47.45.  As a veteran man, Ian Codling also ran with the women and took 42.19.  Walter Busuttil was first club member in the senior men’s race over 8.3k, 93rd out of 183 in 36.16, Rob Lickley 104th in 36.52 and Martyn Coy 133rd in 39.33.  There were 3 Harriers among the 349 at the Fountains Abbey Park Run, with Paul Adams 190th in 29.25, Ian Codling 286th in 34.10 and Marian Codling 322nd in 38.05.  Steven Scott at Northallerton came 14th out of 83 in 24.19 with Tracey Lowther clocking up another PB, 30th in 28.42.  At Albert Park, Rob Lickley was 35th out of 246 in 19.51 and Charlotte Wilton 42nd in 20.41, and Ken Evitt, once again at Darlington South Park
with granddaughter Leah, came 231st out of 298 in 34.00.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
