Race Report 17/12/19

The cumulation of results from time trials over the year ended with  the Christmas Handicap, run for the first time on the fabulous new 1km course on Sowerby Gateway.  It was just a tad slippery because of pending frost, but all 50 runners got round without major mishap, and the much improved Oliver Lewis was the winner.  Gillian Crane came 2nd and young Florry Wharton was 3rd.  All finishers and helpers received chocs or wine, and nibbles followed.  The club’s grateful thanks go to club chairman, Duncan Fothergill, who combines all the results to calculate starting positions.

There was the usual crop of weekend Park Runs, with 360 turning out at Fountains Abbey.  Among them, Lorraine Hiles came 42nd in 22.15, again scoring over 80% in her age category, Adrian Saunders 46th in 22.40, Paul Adams 224th in 30.36, Linda Bamforth 259th in 32.22, Diane Brown 318th in 37.42, Ian Codling 327th in 39.28 and Marian Codling 332nd in 40.34.

Mike Cropper came 2nd out of 58 in 20.54 at Northallerton, and Geoff Bullock at Millfield was 33rd out of 127 in 25.25.  Rob and Christine Burn had a trip to the Dalby Forest event where there were also 127 finishers, Rob coming 14th in 21.52 and Christine 90th in 33.04.  Gary Wilkinson achieved a PB at Coyngham Hall, 30th out of 94 in 26.49.
