Race Report 16/07/19

The Viking Chase Fell Race at the weekend, race 5 in the Dave Parry Summer Series, had  90 finishers for this longer than usual race.  Six Harriers were involved, with David Fawkes first club member home, 23rd in 76.15, Alan Simpson 38th in 86.38, Lorraine Hiles 44th, and 2nd F55, in 88.51, David Tervit 51st in 93.21, Fran Jeffery 57th in 95.17 and Helen Ashworth 65th, and 1st F50, in 99.38.  For the second weekend in succession, the ladies came away with the Team Prize.  Well done!

Kirsty Naylor was among the field of 171 for the Bramham Park 10k, one of the tougher 10k’s around, and finished 80th in 52.31.

At the various Park Runs, 6 members were at Fountains Abbey in a total of 366, with Adrian Saunders 42nd in 22.07, Nigel Morgan 171st in 28.17, Chris Wordsworth 198th in 29.22, Paul Adams 245th in 30.57, Ian Codling 334th in 38.28 and Marian Codling 340th in 40.54.

Phillip Craig, supporting a young friend, came 112th out of 115 in 50.02.  Millfield, Easingwold, had 127 finishers in its 4th staging of the event, with Geoff Bullock 35th in 25.13, Rosie Gatenby 65th in PB 28.03 and Jemma Cropper 103rd in 34.05. Trish Radford at Rushmere came 91st out of 165 in 30.03 and Mike Cropper at Potternewton  was a good 11th out of 122 in 20.59.

Earlier in the week, the Lordstones 5k Trail, part of the Stockton Summer Series, had 168 finishers, over a course which is very beautiful, but tougher than usual for this series.  Clay pigeon shooting was somewhat disconcerting at the start, but Alan Wikeley, in his element, came 150th in 36.37, Margaret Wikeley 153rd in 37.12, Ian Codling 162nd in 44.32 and Marian Codling 167th in 50.01.
