Marian’s Weekly Race Roundup – 29/10/13

After a night of heavy rain, the course for the Harewood 10 Mile Trail race was very muddy in places – and extra factor in what is always a tough, hilly, race.  Though the rain had mostly subsided, gale force winds were prevalent at the start, but once in the shelter of the woods, were less noticeable.  Stephan Tomaszewski was first club finisher, 25th in 71.05 with up-and-coming Craig Lee not far behind, 27th in 71.12, Walter Busuttil 37th in 72.39,  Rob Burn 44th in 73.47,  Bryan Miller 137th in 86.19,  Marc Davies, improving with every run, 140th in 86.42,  Carol Morrison having a good run to come 186th in 92.21,  Geoff Bullock 189th in 92.42,  Steve Scott 205th in 94.22,  Alan Harman 217th in 95.45,  Christine Burn 269th in 108.05, Faith Coy 270th in 108.26,  Cath Lumb 288th in 113.37,  Claire Gillan, struggling with an injury, 289th in 114.41, and Ian Codling 297th in 119.36.
Marian Codling completed the 5 mile race, which cut out most of the mud, and took 74.17, with Bev Davies taking 21.01 in the 2 mile race.

Three members were among the large field of 142 for the Guisborough 3 Tops Fell Race, taking in Roseberry Topping and the Hanging Stones, where again, gales were a factor, with some hail at times. Lorraine Hiles finished 100th in 94.24,  Fran Jeffery 135th in 110.53 and Alan Wikeley 139th in 114.03.

Noel Clough took part in the recent Yorkshire Points cyclo cross event at Thornes Park, Wakefield on a fast, dry course and was 2nd M40 finisher.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
