Marian’s Weekly Race round up – 19/11/13

The Leeds Abbey Dash 10k took place at the weekend with close on 10000 runners taking part in this fast, flat race where personal best times may be achieved.  Conditions were ideal for running and Steve Middleton was first club finisher, 297th in 35.31,  Dan Holdsworth 305th in 35.37,  Rob Lickley 1179th in a personal best time by almost a minute of 42.03,  David Fabrega, in his first outing for the club, 1687th in 45.28, and Sarah Burn took 48.23, beating her previous best time by 40 seconds!

A few miles away, Ian and Marian Codling were at Barnsley for the rather hillier Barnsley 10k, among the 620 finishers.  Ian came 551st in 63.31 and Marian 612th in 76.39.

The latest NYSD cross country fixture took place at Filey, hosted by Scarborough AC, and again, conditions, both underfoot and weatherwise, were perfect.  Stephan Tomaszewski was 18th out of the 63 male entrants in 40.40 and Rob Burn 29th in 42.23.  In the ladies’ race Christine Burn came 37th in 28.11.

Apologies to Alan Wikeley for missing his name off the Clay Bank West fell results last week – he finished 106th in 54.19.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
