Marian’s Weekly race roundup – w/c 25/11/13

With a large number of Harriers on a very enjoyable social weekend in the Lake District in lovely weather, people doing races were few and far between!  Hester Cox was the club’s sole runner in the latest fell fixture, Commondale Beacon, a new race, and Race 5 in the winter series.  The morning started damp, cold and misty, though did improve, and conditions underfoot were very muddy after a lot of heavy rain during the previous week.  Hester finished 71st in a time of 67.50.

Alan Harman travelled to Clowne in Derbyshire for the Clowne Half Marathon – a distance of 80 miles for his 80th half marathon!  What an achievement. He finished 346th out of 614 runners in 1.51.22 in this pleasant, rural race.  He was not a little surprised to find Dan Holdsworth also at the start line. Running to support a friend, Dan came in 386th in 1.54.19.

The previous weekend Alan Harman was at the Leeds Abbey Dash, finishing in a very creditable 48.22

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
