Marian’s Weekly Race Report w/c 16/02/15

A quiet weekend for races saw only three Harriers at the Fountains Abbey Park Run, Duncan Fothergill coming 70th out of 231 in 24.23,  Gillian Crane 191st in 32.58, and Greg MacDonald, at the back of the queue for once, supporting a young relative, 226th in 41.44.
Graham Robinson tried out yet another local Park Run, this time at York, and found it to his liking, finishing 54th out of 383 in 20.47 and knocking a full 14 seconds off his previous best time.

There were 236 finishers in the Ann Johnston Absent Friends 5 mile run, a trail race at the lovely Cowpen Bewley Country Park on a perfect morning for running.  Ian Codling was 217th in 56.45 and Marian Codling 234th in 62.21.

The Thirsk 10 Road Race based at Thirsk Racecourse on Mar 22nd continues to attract a lot of interest and is filling up nicely.  The flat, rural course is ideal for gaining a personal best time and it suits runners of all abilities and experience.  Entries are coming in from all over the north and further afield, and as it also incorporates the Yorkshire Vets 10 Mile Championships, there are some high quality entries.  There is a race for Wheelchair Athletes, and again, it would suit competitors of all abilities.  An off-road Fun Run of about 1.5 miles is available for youngsters under 17 and adults as well, with a medal for all participants.  If you have never run, now is your opportunity to give it a go! Details of all these races can be found on the Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers website.
