From The Rain At Castle Bolton To The Sun At Borrowdale

Two Harriers completed the arduous Borrowdale Fell Race in the Lake District at the weekend where conditions, unusually, were warm, with clear skies!  More than 400 runners tackled the tough race which starts in Borrowdale village and takes in Bessy Boot Summit, Skafell Pike Summit, Great Gable Summit, Honister Hause and Dalehead Summit, all in all, a distance of about 17 miles with 6500 feet of climb.  Gavin Coventry finished in 169th place in a time of 4.23.58 and Hester Cox 298th in 5.09.02.
Alan Harman was at the Round Hill Fell Race over 8.5 miles, organised by Otley AC and based on the village of Timble near Blubberhouses.  Alan finished 74th out of 92 competitors in a time of 1.28.44.
The previous weekend he was one of five Harriers who tackled the James Herriot 14k Trail Run starting and finishing at Castle Bolton.  Conditions were very wet for the race which involves plenty of climbing, and Lorraine Hiles, in fine form, as ever, came in 90th out of the 238 finishers in a time of 73.68 with Alan Harman 119th in 77.88,  Fiona Needham 166th in 85.60,  Fran Jeffery 179th in 87.92 and Phillip Craig 232nd in 106.38.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
