GOOD LUCK SON with your first half marathon

7pm, Thirsk School Thirsk School Gym. Clean shoes please. Indoors. We are looking for 25 to 35 mins of continuous core work which is building on what we have already achieved.

Outdoors. Ken and Duncan are taking an outside group giving a choice of two speeds. Go with the one closest to your speed. You will need a head torch and shoes suitable for running on grass. Monday night will be a recovery run, ie 10 min warm up 25 mins steady with a 30 sec stride every 2 to 3 mins with 5 to 10 mins cool down.

Social run from Thirsk and Sowerby leisure centre at 7pm (meet in foyer) on well-lit paths and pavements. Suitable for all abilities; there will be several stops to run back/regroup, no-one runs by themselves or gets left behind. New and returning Tuesday night runners always welcome.
Route to be decided on the night, around 5 miles. Please wear high vis if you have it.

7pm, Thirsk School. Sports Hall. If we do the introduction at 6.55pm then we can start the warm ups at 7 prompt. We seemed to do pretty ok with the circuits for a first time run through and most of you were pushing and pulling at the right time and also in the right direction. Next week we will be a little more sure of what we are doing so I'm looking for just that little more commitment on all fronts. ( please!!) Remember we all want to look good in front of that bathroom mirror!!!!

then split into two groups.
Inside. Short and sharp intervals. ( lung busters)
Outside. 6 x 3 mins/ alternating 30 secs/ 60 secs recovery. Head torch and shoes for grass.

AFTERWARDS – Back to Thirsk Athletes Club for our AGM – Please come a support the committee members and everyone else who works behind the scenes.

7pm sharp, Kilburn Woods, Osgodby car park. Dress for the weather and bring a headtorch.

Bring a clean jumper and some beer tokens for refreshments at the Forresters Arms afterwards.

Richmond Castle 10k 11am

The race starts in the Batts riverside park area, and is all on roads apart from a very short section on grass at the start. Runners pass the spectacular Richmond Falls on the River Swale before crossing the river at Green Bridge and climbing Sleegill. A quick look over the shoulder from Sleegill offers fine views of Richmond Castle. Runners are then taken on a short circuit of Catterick Garrison before returning to Richmond and a great finish within the grounds of Richmond Castle

Message from the chair:

Please don’t forget our AGM on Wednesday night – Please come a support the committee members and everyone else who works behind the scenes. Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers is a great club, achieving great things.

May I take this opportunity in thanking everyone for your support over the last 12 months. It’s good to see lots of new faces at the club; even better to see lots of new helpers coming forward to help at events such as Thirsk 10, x-country, Sessay and Harrogate league.

Thanks everyone!
