Annual Dinner Prize Night

We started the Christmas festivities with the handicap on station road last Wednesday night. Yes, it was raining, but if you don’t take part, you don’t win. Nicola Booth continued her winning ways and took the ladies’ title and Mervin Burn took the men’s. Thanks to James Shepherd for the winners’ prizes on the night. All runners received a prize. Time keepers also, and thank you for standing out in the rain.

Saturday 22nd was the Annual Dinner, this time at Oswalds. A great night out and a big thank you to Jean for collecting all the money. It must be like getting blood out of a stone!! All the championship prize winners are;

Men 1st Stephan Tomaszewski 2nd Rob Burn. 3rd Geoff Bullock (senior)
Women 1st Nicola Booth 2nd Christine Burn. 3rd Marian Codling

Most improved male athlete. Martyn Coy. Most improved female. Fran Jeffrey. Endeavour Trophy (devotion to duty) Steve Booth.

Club training nights begin back at the school on Monday 7th January, the day after the first 2013 Club championship race, Clay Bank (east). For those wishing to take part in your first fell race this is quite a good one to do. Not too technical, a steep climb at the start, then a trot around the moor and a modest descent through the forestry. Piece of cake really!!

On a rather sad note, with immediate effect, we are unable to take any juniors at our training sessions for 2013. Regulations state we need a Welfare Officer. It has also been acknowledged we are not meeting the training needs of the junior athletes and the club would welcome some adults to fulfill the role of training and developing young athletes. With enthusiasm and motivation from interested parties perhaps this is something we can re consider for the 2014 membership?
Is there anyone out there willing to take on this role?

All that remains is for me to wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year. Rob

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
