Superb Showing By Thirsk At Muddy Boots

There was a good contingent of newer members at the Muddy Boots 10k at Ripon on Sunday, where the constant mistle only added to the mud round parts of the course, though some of it was on road.  Charlotte Sanderson, continuing her superb form, came 14th, comfortably winning the ladies’ race, in a time of 40.04 – an excellent time for this course.  The ever improving Rob Lickley had another good run to finish 59th in 47.17 with Steven Scott 142nd in 53.06,  Bryan Miller 150th in 53.33,  Brian Smith, in his first ever 10k, 181st in 56.08, Claire Gillan 269th in 64.23 and Ian Codling 309th in 70.03.
Alan Harman tackled the very hard, hilly, Liversedge Half Marathon, where there was a bitter wind and sleeting rain throughout, and finished 326th out of 455 runners in a very creditable 1.59.10.
When the Broughton Woods results were published, Nicola Booth’s name was missed off, which was a pity after such a hard run!! Nicola finished 81st in a time of 62.41.
With the date of the Thirsk 10, Mar 24th, getting ever nearer, a lot of attention and effort is going towards its organisation.  If you haven’t yet got your entry in, it’s not too late, the fast, flat course being popular with elite runners and running novices from all over the north.
