Strong Showing At The Viking Chase

Two Harriers were among the 1271 finishers of the Redcar Half Marathon at the weekend on a fine but windy morning.  At least with the out and back course, the wind was with you some of the time!  Dan Holdsworth had a superb run to finish 19th in 1.21.06, a minute quicker than his previous best in a Great North Run.  Alan Harman, always performing well, came 381st in 1.43.59.
At the Horsforth 10k on a multi terrain course with some hills, Sarah Glover was 173rd out of 595 entrants in 46.22 with Ian Codling 530th in 62.13.
The previous weekend, the Winter Series of fell races opened with the Viking Chase Fell Race on a fresh,  largely sunny morning.  There were 118 finishers, Stewart Mechie, in his first outing for a while, leading club members home in a very good 25th place in 73.12, with Brett Edgeworth, also not racing much just now, 42nd in 78.43,  Sarah Glover 61st, and 4th lady, in 82.41,  Lorraine Hiles 84th in 88.07 and Fran Jeffery 110th in 105.29.
Across the world, John Yates took part in the Jakarta Half Marathon, coming a very good 13th in 1.38.16, not his best, but he was quite pleased all the same!
The cyclo cross seriers has begun again in earnest, with a fast, flat course at Northallerton on Sept 2nd, where Noel Clough was 2nd V40 and Pete Wilkin 2nd V50.  On the 9th at Oakmount School, Keighley, Noel finished 12th V40, with Pete out of things for a while after a bad fall.  Tong, Bradford, a tricky course with a steep descent, saw Noel finish 8th V40, having recovered from a fall earlier in the race.  In a better race for Noel, at Thomas Park, Wakefireld, he was 2nd V40 finisher
