Stinging In The Rain

Claybank West

Carol at Claybank West

It is getting to the time of year when races are thin on the ground, but at least this year we are not having to contend with the heavy snows of last year at this time!
Carol Morrison and Pat Kirby took part in the Clay Bank West Fell race on Nov 20th on a morning which was warm for the time of year.  The course was muddy in places and slippery stones at times needed to be traversed with care, but 132 runners completed the race, with Carol, struggling with an injury, finishing 125th in 55.41 and Pat coming 126th in 55.47.
Ian and Marian Codling travelled to the wilds just into Cumbria on a wild and windy Saturday afternoon for the Ravenstonedale 10k, a friendly and very scenic village race.  150 runners were involved, with stinging rain to be contended with as well as gale force winds for the undulating road race and Ian came in 148th in 64.21 with Marian 150th in 69.31.The warming soup for all finishers at the end was very, very welcome!
The NYSD Cross Country Series continues next weekend at Croft, when the pace will be rather slower than the norm for that venue!
