Steve Superlative In Moor Marathon

Steve Middleton is in superlative form at the moment, taking 2nd place in the Newcastle Town Moor Marathon in a wonderful personal best time of 2.57.02, only a good minute behind the first placed runner.  John Worrall also had a superb run to come 14th, in a very creditable 3.13.51, out of 127 runners competing in this 5 lap race around the streets of Newcastle.
Rather more entrants, 1114 to be exact, were involved in the Yorkshire Coast 10k on a fine morning for running at Scarborough, right along the sea front from the Spa to Peasholm Park and back.  Dan Holdsworth, another runner in excellent form, came 31st in a very good 38.06, with stalwart Alan Harman 271st in 47.36, Ian Codling 827th in 59.39 and Marian Codling 1002nd in 65.38.
The previous weekend, Noel Clough took part in a Super cross event based at Keephope Park, home of Doncaster Rovers.  The course was hilly and very technical and Noel had a good race to finish 2nd V40.  He and Pete Wilkin travelled to a new venue at Brighouse the next day to a cyclo-cross event featuring 2 very stiff climbs.  Noel finished 3rd in the senior race but Pete had to retire with just 3 laps to go, sadly.
