Stephan Cuts Through The Clart To Lead Home

The Harewood 10 mile trail race provided its usual testing, hilly course in the lovely grounds of Harewood House, with serious mud in places providing an extra hazard!  This was the latest Club Championship race, and Stephan Tomszewski lead club runners home in 53rd place in a time of 73.29.  Rob Burn came next, 96th in 77.09 with Nikki Booth, competitive as ever, 175th in 85.06,  Geoff Bullock 189th in 86.40,  Alan Harman 216th in 89.46,  Steve Booth 248th in 94.28,  David Goddard 312th in 104.36,  Christine Burn 323rd in 107.40 and Ian Codling 348th in 113.09.There were 363 finishers on a cold, almost fair, morning.
It was at least as cold at Scarborough for the East Coast 10k, which attracted a field of 1211, with new member Rob Lickley finishing 235th in a very creditable 45.46.
The previous day, at Whitby, a couple of members took part in the latest NYSD Cross Country fixture on another testing course.  Charlotte Sanderson once again ran superbly to come 3rd in 21.44 minutes in the Ladies’ race out of 64 entrants, with Graham Robinson finishing 85th in the Men’s race in 43.12 over twice the distance, in a field of 113.
Alan Harman was also at the coast the previous weekend to take part in the Bridlington Half Marathon on a cold, foggy morning when it was impossible to see the sea!  (The sun came out at 2.30 pm as runners were leaving Bridlington!)  Alan finished 360th out of 816 in a time of 1.48.05, his 11th half marathon this year and his 70th in total since he started running!
