Rob’s weekly blog and training update w/c 30/07/17

Sunday 30th July. 11am. Club Championship race. James Herriot trail race. 14k trail. Castle Bolton, Leyburn , Wensleydale. There are only two climbs, one long one just after the start and a shorter, steeper one just before half way so really all the climbing is done in the first half of the race. Annoyingly, on the way back you can actually see the finish from quite a distance and it seems as though you run away from it. Don’t panic because you do but not for long. The last bit is nicely down hill. Only about 25% is off stone track but with all the recent rain a stud will probably be needed. I have not run this one for quite some time so I need to tick it off. Yes, I am looking forward to it!

Monday 31st July. 7pm. Athletic Club. Easing out all the aches from the fell race no doubt. My bum cheeks are still aching from last Monday and I darn’t even mention the golf ball!!

Beginners group wk 10. Andy and Jody are back together again. Please don’t ask Andy about his friend Harry! And congratulations to Jody on his new coaching qualification. A heavy downpour happened during his exam and it had to be abandoned so he actually had to take it twice. Well done Jody.

Wednesday 2nd August 7pm. Athletic Club. Hopefully on the cricket square once again. It is proving quite firm and fast and pretty easy to set up. I will try and get the lap as close to 400 metres as I can which in turn will help with your pace judgement. Yesterdays tt results pointed out improved times.
5 x 4 mins / 2mins/rec The humidity and heat from the last one showed we needed the longer recovery so we will do the same again. Remember it will soon be Sessay Swift.

See you soon, Aching Rob
