Rob’s Weekly Blog and Training Update w/c 08/02/16

Monday 8th February. School not available due to School Production!! 7pm Swimming pool.

It is also half term the week after.

Wednesday 10th February. 7pm Athletic Club

Again school not available due to School production. Maybe bring an head torch but if like other nights we should be fine. It is also half term the week after.

Running session 6 x 3 mins/ 1 recovery.

Club Championship Race. Sunday 7th Feb

Richmond Cross country. First race 1pm. ALL AGES.

This course is ideal for all you marathon runners because it is a good test of stamina, a long drag up hill against the wind and a chance to get your legs moving with the wind behind you on the way back on each lap. I would call it a strong rather that a fast course. It doesn’t get too wet either but it can be a little soft on the lower part. If you don’t like spikes then a stud or trail shoe should be fine.

I don’t really know but in a time of equality you would think both senior races would be the same distance but it has always been the case. Once, and only once when Shiela Catford was running for us she was allowed to run with the men as she had been selected to run for Scotland, she was allowed a little race practice. I bet someone had a little telling off about that one because it never happened again. It has just dawned on me that I’ll be able to run the shorter distance in a couple of years time and do you know, I just might enjoy that!!

A note from Rob…

Since Christine and I came back from Hong kong we have not been very well. Full of cold and it’s taking ages to shake off. I feel as though I’m getting to the end of a race but someone keeps moving the finish line and I can’t quite get there. I can only hope things are going to pick up a bit before Sunday.
