Ravenstonedale Warmed By Soup

There is something of a dearth of races at this time of year, but Ian and marian Codling managed to find one at Ravenstonedale last Saturday.Fog in Thirsk and hold-ups on the A1 almost made them regret their decision to go, but they finally got to the lovely Pennine village of Ravenstonedale for their annual 10k.  This rural course is quite testing, on roads, with plenty of hills, but at least the day was fine and dry.  174 runners completed the race, with Ian taking 64.28 and Marian 74.47.  Both received age-group prizes, and all entrants enjoyed a bowl of warming soup after the race!
The previous week, Hester Cox was among the 107 competitors in the Clay Bank West Fell Race on a day when the frost had just melted away but the going was heavy in places.  Hester came 42nd in 43.20
The final club chamionship race of the year takes place in the NYSD League fixture at Filey at the weekend, when places will be sorted and presentations will be made at the annual dinner in December.
