On the day when members took part in a fell
race at Clay Bank East and a cross-country event at Whitby, a dreadful clash
of fixtures meant Harriers doing those races were not able to take part in the
Yorkshire Vets Cross-Country Championships at Keighley, which was a pity.
Those who did acquitted themselves well, with Rob Burn finishing a very good
18th in the 50 - 69 age group in a time of 38.42. David Read came 72nd in
45.02 and Alan Wikeley 96th in 51.01. In the 35-39 age-group, Mervin Burn was
73rd in 40.30.
At a time of year when races are in fairly
short supply, the next Club Championship race is the Ackworth Half Marathon on
March 16th.
