Race Reports 13th May 2008
The Ripon 10 mile multi-terrain race proved a happy hunting ground for Thirsk and Sowerby runners even though the course was hard and hilly and the temperatures were high! Gary Dunn was once again unbeatable, finishing 1st in a time of 54.40, more than 2 minutes ahead of the 2nd finisher. Phil Utley, 12th in 64.19 and Walter Busuttil 15th in 65.21 completed a winning Men's team, well ahead of any of the other teams. Brett Edgeworth was next, 50th in 72.23, Ernie Huck 78th in 75.55, Hester Cox 96th in 79.11, Les Sutton-Haigh 120th in 83.40, Jonathan Severs 150th in 87.59, Angela Eilbeck 167th in 90.12, Pat Kirby 179th in 94.07, Judith Seaton 191st in 97.12, Jane Thompson 208th in 100.24, Eileen Howell 216th in 104.29, Marian Codling 242nd in 121.40, Nik Sutton-Haigh, accompanying her friend Jimmy, 249th in 126.39 and Phillip Craig 251st in 128.38. Ernie Huck, Pat Kirby and Marian Codling all collected prizes for being 1st in their age-group, which along with the men's team prize and Gary's 1st place, made a thoroughly good haul for Thirsk and Sowerby! 253 runners completed this enjoyable and well organised race which was also the latest event in both the Black Sheep Series and this year's Club Championship.
