Race Reports 06th May 2008
Gary Dunn was on winning form not once but
twice at the weekend, first of all in the scenic, friendly and well organised
Kirkbymoorside 10k, which he won in 32.53 minutes, almost four minutes ahead of
the 2nd placed runner! The race begins with a long climb, testing enough on the
first warm day of the spring. Richard Hall also had a good run, finishing an
excellent 4th in 37.04. Angela Hall was 51st, and 2nd lady, in 42.40, Alasdair
Thorpe 95th in 45.25, Nicola Thorpe 178th in 50.15, Judith Seaton 259th in

Terry Wall of Morpeth Harriers, who took 32.50 minutes. There were 424 finishers
in this event over a fast flat course.
The previous weekend's race, the Wensleydale Wander, was completely different -
a long or short course which people could walk or run. Stewart Mechie chose to
run the long 22 mile course through the beautiful Wensleydale countryside and
was the winner of the race in 3h21min. Pat Kirby was the 2nd Harrier home, in
4.05, Les Sutton Haigh 4.35, Judith Seaton 4.44, Yvonne Wood 4.56, Nik Sutton-Haigh
4.57 along with Jo Fambely, 4.57. Eileen Howell and Nicola Thorpe both did the
short, 12 mile run, taking 2.17, and Pamela Sherlock took 3.11.
