T&SH on form at the Lightwater Valley Challenge

Lightwater Valley had an influx of 261 runners at the weekend for the Lightwater Valley Challenge 10k, 25 of them from Thirsk and Sowerby. The course was certainly testing, with plenty of water about after torrential rain the previous night, but it was a very well received race.
Stephan Tomaszewski, getting well back into form, led club runners home to finish 12th in 39.38, with Rob Burn next, 26th in 42.05, Rob Lickley, improving with every run, 30th in 42.57, Nicola Booth 70th in 46.44, Bryan Miller 97th in 48.45, Steven Scott 99th in a personal best time of 48.53, Geoff Bullock 110th in 49.47, David Fawkes, in his first outing for the club, 113th in 49.57, Nicola Jenkins 115th in 50.02, closely followed by Hilary Coventry, 116th in 50.07, and Brian Smith 119th in 50.82, all the last three achieving PB times, Pat Kirby 124th in 50.34, Steve Booth 141st in 52.15, Carol Morrison 150th in 52.58, John Bishop, another first-timer for the club, 160th in 53.27, potenetial new member, entered as an unattached runner this time, Stuart Waters 182nd in 55.58, Faith Coy 208th in 58.27, just ahead of Martyn Coy, 209th in 58.48, Claire Gillan 212th in 58.52, Christine Burn 219th in 59.35, Lynne Jackson 225th in 60.46, Janet Balmain 226th in 60.59, Lisa Brown 231st in 62.11, Ian Codling 242nd in 64.54, and Marian Codling 259th in 73.01.
This latesrt club championship race was well supported by members.

It will be all hands on deck next Sun as the club hosts its annual 10 mile race, based at Thirsk racecourse. You can still enter on the day, from 9 am, and the race starts at 11 am.
