Top Of The Hill

There was a good turnout for the Dalby Dash 10k on a beautiful morning in the glorious setting of Dalby Forest.  Remembrance Sunday was recognised with a 2 minutes silence following a few appropriate words from race director Darran Bilton.  Charlotte Sanderson, in brilliant form just now was the 1st lady finisher, 6th overall, in a time of 36.40, and won an extra prize, a specially commissioned jacket, for being the first lady to the “Top of the Hill”!  Paul Van Der Westhuisen, also in excellent form, came 31st in 40.41 with Lorraine Hiles, another runner continuing her winning ways, 79th, and 1st F45 lady, in 43.17,  Sonja Van Der Westhiusen 241st in 51.03,  Nik Sutton-Haigh 250th in 51.17,  Pat Kirby 267th and 2nd F60, (missing out on 1st place by a mere 6 seconds) in 52.18,  Ian Codling 412th in 61.45 and Marian Codling, returning after a long lay-off, 456th in 76.42.
At the scenic, rural Maltby 7, also preceded by a minute of silence for Remembrance Sunday, Graham Robinson had a good run to come 82nd in 50.24, with Brian Mellor, in his first outing for the club, 207th in 61.44 and Clair Gillan, also a first-timer, 259th in 70.06.
The recent NYSD cross country fixture held at Whitby saw Jack Spence, in his second claim colours, have a superb win in the U15 boys’ race in a time of 16.10, with Joe Griffiths in the shorter U13 boys’ race 21st in 14.51 in his first club outing.
