Race Report 26/02/19

The club was proud to have a team of ladies at the National Cross Country Championships, held at Harewood House this year.  As anyone who has run at Harewood will know there are serious hills, and the course here was no exception. Conditions underfoot were as good as they can be, and Donna James, Heather Bell, Jill Libby, Rosie Gatenby and Diane Brown coped well to finish in 111th place, and excellent achievement.Conditions were also perfect for the Fountains Abbey Park Run with another bumper turnout of 472.  Adrian Saunders finished in 53rd place, in PB 22.08, Nigel Morgan 219th in 28.02, David Palmer 235th in 28.22, Lindsay Goom 296th in PB 30.12, Ann Butchers, in her first ever park run, 313th in 30.46, Wendy Bennett 425th in 37.23, Ian Codling 443rd in 39.17, and Marian Codling 444th in 39.50.

Phillip Craig was at Northallerton and came 57th out of 93 in 29.38.You can find a Park Run in many places, at home and abroad, and Ian and Gillian Crane did the Robertson Park Run in South Africa, Ian finishing 16th out of 134 in 27.51 and Gillian 49th in 33.44.

The following day, Ian and Marian Codling were at the Tees Barrage 5k Trail Race in a lovely setting by the River Tees starting and finishing near the white water course.  Conditions were again perfect for this race which is part of the Stockton Winter Series, and Ian took 37.48, more than a minute quicker than his park run the previous day, with Marian 41.21.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
