Race Report 24/09/19
The ladies had no fewer than 4 teams on this fine warm morning, with Amber Duffield, Esther Harrison and Kirsty Naylor finishing in 2nd place out of a total of 19 teams, in an aggregate time of 44.21. Faith Coy, Rosie Gatenby and Trish Radford’s team were 4th in 55.35, Alison Butcher Jemma Cropper and Lindsay Goom 16th in 59.12 and Sarah Scott, Christine Burn and Caroline Pearce 17th in 61.15.
There were 14 men’s teams with Mike Cropper, Ken Wood, Stephan Tamaszewski, and David Fawkes finishing in 4th place in 53.37, and Bryan Miller, Rob Burn, Andy Butcher and David Tervit 10th in 59.48.
A big thankyou to Rob Burn, Duncan Fothergill and team for setting it all up – and clearing away afterwards.
On the same morning, 3 ladies were among the 96 finishers at the Fryup Frazzler Fell Race, the 10th and final race in the Dave Parry Summer Series. It was another toughie, with moorland running and some testing climbs, on a warm morning for running. Lorraine Hiles was first club member home, 43rd in 63.05, Hilary Coventry 63rd in 72.09 and Helen Ashworth 69th in 75.26. Lorraine and Hilary were 1st and 2nd F55 respectively, and Helen was 2nd F50. The team came in 4th.
The overall standings over the season were announced,with Helen taking the prize for the 1st F50, and Lorraine and Hilary 2nd and 3rd F55. The team, which has had excellent results over the season, came away with 1st prize. Congratulations. (Quite a few bottles of wine I would imagine!)
Ian and Marian Codling found the going tough at the flat Sutton Park 10k over roads, trails,and disintegrating stoney aerodrome runways, Ian taking 80.50 and Marian 89.45.
5 members were among the 348 at Fountains Abbey Park Run, Paul Bradford coming 77th in 23.57, Ian Crane 130th in 26.34, Gillian Crane 271st in 34.10, Ian Codling 302nd in 37.18 and Marian Codling 328th in 41.42.
Northallerton had 125 finishers, Adrian Saunders coming 28th in =PB 23.36 and Phillip Craig 69th in 28.16.
At Millfield, Esther Harrison came 20th out of 141 in 25.08 and Liz Stephenson 122nd in 39.15.
