Race Report 20/11/18

What more beautiful place could you wish to run than at Preston Park near Yarm, on a lovely sunny November morning, and a large number of runners arrived to do just that.  The course, over grass and along woodland tracks, with a few ups and downs, was harder than it looked, and Jill Libby had a good run in the ladies’ race to come 89th out of 145 in 32.06, with Christine Burn 117th in 35.32, Liz Stephenson 143rd in 44.48 and Marian Codling 145th in 49.20.   The more senior men ran with the ladies, and Geoff Bullock took 30.25, Ken Evitt 32.09 and Ian Codling 45.57.In the senior men’s race, over a longer course, Josh Fothergill came 23rd out of 188 in 31.54, Ken Wood 56th in 33.55, Mick Cropper 113th in 37.37, Paul Atkinson 117th in 37.53, Andy Butcher 134th in 39.23, David Tervit 154th in 41.30, Craig Ivey 164th in 42.44 and Duncan Fothergill 167th in 43.05.

At the Fountains Abbey Park Run the previous day, Mick Cropper, obviously in fine form just now, was 23rd out of 364 in PB time 20.13.  Linda Bamforth finished 246th in 31.13, Jane Cummins 313th in 35.31 just ahead of Steve Isaac, 315th in 35.32.  Ian Codling was 328th in 37.45 and Marian Codling 337th in 38.58.  Peter Richardson was among the field of 454 at Woodhouse Moor and came 140th in PB 24.20.  Rosie Gatenby was at a different Preston Park, this time at Brighton, and came in 281st out of 465 in 27.37.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
