Race Report 20/08/19

On another quiet weekend as far as races are concerned, the Fountains Abbey Park Run, surely one of the most scenic in the country, attracted 413 runners.  There is no stopping Mike Cropper now, and he finished 20th in 19.57.  Another unstoppable is Lorraine Hiles, once again achieving a % time of almost 82, who came 47th in 21.49 with Andy Butcher 53rd in 22.04.  Alan Simpson tried Fountains for the first time and came 68th in 22.41, with Adrian Saunders 74th in 22.59, Alison Butcher 175th in 27.22, Paul Adams 253rd in 30.37, first timer Kim Werner 348th in 35.40, Oliver Lewis, improving all the time, 379th in PB 38.13, Ian Codling 382nd in 38.30 and Marian Codling 391st in 41.15.

The new Millfield Park Run continues to attract good numbers, and Geoff Bullock was 63rd out of 194 in 25.38 with Gary Wilkinson 69th in 26.14.

The following day there were 574 finishers at the Escrick 10k, run in the beautiful grounds of Escrick Park.  The course is flat, through woods (including pigs!), and on mainly stoney trails, making it not the easiest terrain to run on, but the marshals gave lots of enthusiastic support to help you round!  Kirsty Naylor came 190th in 51.58, Ian Codling 558th in 81.26 and Marian Codling 566th in 87.19.
