Race Report 18/06/19

Ian Crane made another nostalgic trip to his old stamping ground for the Tour of Tameside, a series of testing races over 4 days last week.  Thursday saw the 10k Trail over a course which had definite hills, Ian taking 58.27 minutes.  The following day was Hell on the Fell, a 6 mile race living up to its name, over which he took 64.35.  Saturday had the Hero Half Marathon Trail, taking 2.17.59, and the event concluded on Sunday with the Ron Hill 7 mile Road Race, which Ian covered in 65.55.  What a tremendous effort, and medals to equal Michael Phelps!

Ian and Marian Codling were among the field at the Newton Aycliffe 10k on a lovely sunny Sunday morning.  The road course had 1 short lap and 2 long laps, with Ian finishing in 81.36 and Marian 83.53.

The previous day they were at the Stonehaven Park Run supporting their daughter, Valerie, on her 100th Park Run.  This again was a 3 lap trail course, with a significant hill to be traversed three times!  Ian came 63rd out of 66 in 40.12 and Marian 64th in 42.24.

Three members were among the 339 at Fountains Abbey, with Stephan Tomaszewski a very good 23rd in 20.40, Adrian Saunders 44th in PB 21.57 and Adrian Elsworth 133rd in 26.17.

Gary Wilkinson at Northallerton came 31st out of 88 in 25.59 and somewhat further afield, at Peckham Rye, Chris Wordsworth was 290th out of 420 in 29.31 following a good run (1:43) at the Otley 10  mile road race on a very drizzly Wednesday evening.
