Race Report 14/01/20

TNT.  “Tough Not Timid”.  Temple Newsham Ten.  It sounds like an explosive mix, and, as far as the lungs were concerned, that was exactly what it was, in Trish Radford’s opinion!  This 10 mile multi terrain race through woods, fields and country paths in and around Temple Newsham was very tough indeed, and Trish did well to finish two thirds down the large field of 836 in 1.45.25, 6th out of 15 in her age-group.

On more level, predictable ground, 8 members were among the 483 finishers at Fountains Abbey Park Run, with 2nd claim member, young Oscar Wileman, coming 83rd in 23.16, Paul Chapman, pushing Ewan in his wheelchair, 202nd in 27.53, Ian Crane 275th in 30.12, just ahead of Paul Adams, 276th in 30.13, Gillian Crane 372nd in 33.58,Sarah Wileman 403rd in 35.30,  Ian Codling 443rd in 38.51 and Marian Codling 448th in 40.07.

Adrian Saunders at Northallerton came 17th out of 106 in 23.57, Paul Bradford 21st in 24.50, Ken Evitt 53rd in 29.21 and Phillip Craig 60th in 29.43.  7 members were among the field  of 205 at Millfield, Easingwold, with Stephan Tomaszewski a very good 5th in 20.56, Esther Harrison 11th in 22.21, Lorraine Hiles 12th in22.39, Tom Watson 15th in 23.03, Pete Jackson 18th in 23.18, Gary Wilkinson 36th in 25.24 and Geoff Bullock 55th in 26.35.  Rob and Christine Burn like the Dalby Forest event, and Rob finished 19th out of 237 in 21.33, Christine 158th in 32.10.

The previous weekend, a field of 132 tackled the Commondale Beacon Fell Race, Race 7 in the Dave Parry Winter Series.  Alan Simpson was 64th in 69.26, Marc Davies 78th in 71.43, David Tervit 83rd in 72.41 and Kirsty Naylor 93rd in 76.33.
