Race Report 09/04/19

In this time of fewer races, Park Runs were again the order of the weekend, with 11 members among the 398 at Fountains Abbey, surely one of the most beautiful runs in the country!  Adrian Saunders was first club finisher, 65th in 22.35, with Helen Goacher, getting into gear again after her time abroad, 152nd in 26.41, David Palmer 186th in 27.54, Nigel Morgan 193rd in 28.02, Martin Cummins 230th in 29.24, Paul Adams 264th in 30.37, Gillian Crane 300th in 32.30, Linda Bamforth 321st in 33.32, Jane Cummins 348th in 36.44, Ian Codling 367th in 38.20 and Marian Codling 380th in 39.57.

Phillip Craig at Northallerton was 70th out of 107 in 30.12.  How good to see Rebecca Burgess in the results again after time off for having a baby.  She came 113th out of 267 at Albert Park in 25.49.

Mike and Jemma Cropper keep ringing the changes and were at Roundhay Park this week, Mike finishing a very good 11th out of 350 in 20.12, over a 3 lap course which had a long climb at the start of each lap, and Jemma 294th in 33.55.  The previous weekend they did the Rothwell event in the morning and turned up at Temple Newsham in the afternoon to see if they could enter the 6.7 mile Daffodil Dash, which they were able to.  Their morning run obviously acted as a good warm-up, as Mike was first male finisher in the afternoon in 46.19.  Congratulations!  Jemma 69th out of a field of 75 in 1.23.18.I notice Alan Harman in the results again this week, at the tough Baildon Boundary Way Half Marathon, his favourite distance.  He came 294th in 2.19.53.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
