Race Report 03/09/19

Another busy weekend saw several choices of races for members but the club championship race, the Tholthorpe 10k, was where the majority ran, with 16 out of 430 finishers.  For once, conditions were almost ideal – usually it is hot – though there was a wind in places, and people achieved very good times.  Tom Levi continues to be excellent, coming 5th in a PB time of 34.38, and he was also awarded 3rd place in the North Yorkshire Championships.  Mike Cropper, another who is getting some good results, came 39th in 41.12, with evergreen Stephan Tomaszewski 43rd in 41.23.  Since David Tervit has been with the club, he too has improved dramatically, and came 93rd in PB 45.27, Rob Burn, carrying an injury, 148th in 47.12, Andy Butcher 127th in 48.32, Paul Bradford 180th in 50.04, Geoff Bullock 208th in 51.38, Kirsty Naylor 224th in 52.26, Faith Coy 258th in 54.32, Paul Adams 311th in 58.03, Christine Burn 386th in 65.32, Jemma Cropper 404th in 68.46, Ian Codling 423rd in 77.44, Liz Stephenson, another who was not feeling 100%, 427th in 82.13 and Marian Codling 428th in 82.21, more than a minute quicker than last year!

Phillip Craig was among several thousand at the Middlesbrough 10k over a flat, circular course, and was pleased with his time of 56.48.

Meanwhile at the Wetherby 10k, Sue Low came 597th out of 865 in 59.50 with Lianne Robinson 702nd in 64.24.

Park Runs attracted several members – at Fountains Abbey, Mike Cropper came 20th out of 432 in 20.04, Joanne Hunt 202nd in 27.55, Paul Adams 258th in 29.45 and Nigel Morgan 275th in 30.27.  Pete Jackson was among the 109 at Northallerton, finishing 16th and equalling his PB of 23.11, Gary Wilkinson 38th in 26.01 and Caroline Pearce 68th in 30.58. Tom Watson had an away day at Blickling and came 32nd out of 314 in 22.48.

Even further afield, in South Africa, young Jacob Heatlie was 40th out of 193 in 31.52, with Grandad Ian Crane 41st in 31.55 and Grandma Gillian Crane 61st in 36.29.

Earlier in the week, Ian and Marian Codling were at Grange Farm, Coulby Newham for the highly recommended latest, and penultimate, race in the Stockton series of 5k trail races, with Ian coming 98th in 37.34 and Marian 99th in 40.33.
