Race Report 02/07/19

Members were at two Park Runs this weekend.  At Fountains Abbey, Mike Cropper came 2nd out of a smaller field than usual of 296 in 20.06, with Adrian Saunders, just a couple of seconds outside a PB, 44th in 21.59, Nigel Morgan 153rd in 28.46, Jemma Cropper 217th in 33.24, Ian Codling 257th in 37.49 and Marian Codling 268th in SB 39.37.

10 members were among the 136 at the Millfield event at Easingwold in its 2nd running, with Ken Wood an excellent 5th in 19.37, Andy Butcher 17th in 22.08, Rob Burn 20th in 22.35, Duncan Fothergill 37th in 24.53, Geoff Bullock 38th in PB 25.07, Steven Scott 49th in 26.16, Molly Mayes, in her first ever Park Run, 88th in 30.21, Christine Burn 94th in 31.29, Liz Stephenson 122nd in 37.50 and Rosie Gatenby, tail walker, 136th in 45.49.

The following Day was another 5k based on the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough, the Ali Brownlee 5k.  This urban run, passing close to the Transporter Bridge and finishing with a lap of the pitch inside the stadium, had about 1500 runners, with Joanne Hunt taking 27.24, Ian Codling in SB 36.47 and Marian Codling 39.09.

The previous week, at the altogether rural 10k at Staveley, multi terrain and through the lovely nature reserve, Ian Codling came 191st in 82.35 and Marian Codling 83.29.

It’s time to get your entry in for the rural 1 lap road race, the Sessay Swift 6k on Aug 21st, 7.30 pm.  You can enter online or with a paper entry form, and have money with you at the event for a barbecue organised by Sessay Cricket Club.  You can also make use of the Village Hall bar.
