Marian’s Weekly Race Round up – wc 13/01/14

The Summerhill park near Hartlepool provided a tough but interesting course for the latest NYSD cross country fixture at the weekend, with mud and hills aplenty, and a stream which had to be forded twice by the ladies and 3 times by the men.

At least it was a dry day, if very cold. 81 runners competed in the ladies’ race, young Charlotte Knowles once again being first club finisher, 23rd in 20.43. Her Mum, Louise, chose a toughie for her first club outing and ran well to come 52nd in 25.27, with Faith Coy 64th in 26.17, Christine Burn 67th in 26.39, Claire Gillan 69th in 27.07, Bev Davies, in her first cross-country race, 79th in 32.21, Pam Sherlock 80th in 34.15 and Marian Codling 81st in 37.43.  Three older men also ran with the ladies, Geoff Bullock taking 22.49, David Goddard 26.02 and Ian Codling 29.57.

Stehan Tomaszewski once again led home in the men’s race to come 38th in 39.13 with Paul Atkinson, getting going again after a lapse, 61st in 42.16,  Rob Lickley 71st in 43.24,  Marc Davies 80th in 44.19, Graham Robinson 86th in 44.53, Martyn Coy 87th in 45.12, Bryan Miller 96th in 47.06, Steve Scott 99th in 48.59 and Alan Rylance 106th in 52.52.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
