Marian’s Weekly Race Report – w/c 20/10/14

It was a fine, bright morning for the start of the Bridlington Half Marathon, Race 13 in the Club Championship series.  A gentle following wind to begin with left runners unprepared for the strong headwinds encountered over the final 3 miles of the race – over a course which was generally manageable.  Cameron Choules continued his good form to lead Harriers home in 21st place in 1.27.21, 2nd M45 finisher.  Stephan Tomaszewski, always competitive, came 33rd in 1.29.28,  Richard Harry 58th in a personal best 1.34.18,  Graham Robinson, in a team effort with Martyn Coy and Rob Lickley, 105th in 1.40.37,  Martyn Coy 106th in 1.40.48,  Rob lickley 107th in 1.41.36,  Marc Davies 183rd in 1.48.51,  Steven Scott 260th in 1.55.30,  Duncan Fothergill 302nd in 1.59.31,  Faith Coy, in her first ever half marathon, 361st in 2.05.14,  Elizabeth Wordsworth 396th in 2.07.57,  Christopher Wordsworth 432nd in 2.11.23, Ian Codling 515th in 2.38.01 and Marian Codling 530th in 2.52.55 – getting a prize for 1st in her age-group!
Alan Harman was among the 150 finishers at the Shaun Lee Johnstone Memorial Race, over 10 miles, mainly off-road, and with very windy conditions.  He was 58th in 1.23.42.

Cath Lumb, meanwhile, did the new 8 mile race at Harewood – race at Harewood are always tough – and came 252nd in 92.20.

The previous day, 7 members did the weekly Fountains Abbey 5k Park Run, Charlotte Wilton coming 26th in 22.18, her first time at Fountains Abbey though not her first Park Run, Martin Cummins 45th in 23.51,  Joseph Busuttil 46th in 23.53, running with his Mum, Sue, 47th in 23.54, and both doing their first Park Run.  New member Alan Pollock came 63rd in 25.23,  Gillian Crane 151st in 34.34 and Liz Stephenson 177th in 40.53.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
