Marian’s Weekly Race Report – wc 03/03/14

Wind was once again a factor at the weekends races, with Alan Harman having to contend with rain as well at the Haweswater Half Marathon.  He finished 332nd out of 449 runners in a creditable 2.00.02, unlucky to be just over the 2 hour mark.

At least on the east side of the country it was mainly dry, and Thirsk and Sowerby had just one team in the NYSD road relays at Croft,  with the team of Stephan Tomaszewski, Marc Davies, Martyn Coy and Rob Burn finishing in
14th place.

Conditions were good for the fairly level Norton 9 road race – just a couple of hills – though there was a significant head wind in the second part of the race.  Out of 508 finishers,  Ian Codling came 489th in 98.04 and Marian Codling 504th in 111.21in this friendly, well marshalled village race.

Rob Lickley took part in the Catterick 10k recently,  an event put on in support of the charity Help for Heroes.  Over a course which was anything but flat in places, Rob finished 32nd out of 219 in a time of 43.01.

Just 2 weeks to go now to the Thirsk 10 and Wheelchair races and Fun Run.  Have you got your entry in?

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
