Marian’s Weekly Race Report – 23/09/14

The opening fixture for the NYSD Cross Country season was the relays, held at Thirsk Flatts.  The club had a good turnout, with the first ladies’ team of Charlotte Sanderson (13.57), Charlotte Wilton (16.00) and Becky Burgess (16.53), finishing in 6th place.  In 12th place were Christine Burn (20.12), Danielle Donohue (18.06) and Helen Ashworth (17.55).  Charlotte Knowles (15.56) and Amy Knowles (18.40) were a part team.  In the men’s event, the team of Daniel Holdsworth (12.18), Greg MacDonald (12.59), Stephan Tomaszewski (13.44) and Cameron Choules (12.55) were 7th, the team of David Fawkes (15.03), Andy Butcher (16.29), Graham Robinson (15.13) and Rob Burn (14.18) were 19th, the team of Bryan Miller (14.28), Stuart Waters (16.28) Martin Cummins (17.17) and Duncan Fothergill (16.59) were 21st, and in a part team, Martyn Coy took 15.32 and Peter Greenslade, in his first ever race, took 23.15.  Well done to all.

The Viking Chase Fell Race, a fund rainsing event for Cleveland Mountain Rescue, attracted 76 entrants on a grey morning.  Lorraine Hiles came 40th, and 1st F50, in 86.26 and Hilary Coventry was 59th in 92.26.

A few members were at various Park Runs, with Steve Scott among the 206 runers at the Fountains Abbey event, coming 32nd in 22.44, Martin Cummins 44th in 24.03, Duncan Fothergill 65th in 25.37, Jane Cummins 148th in 32.00 and Malcolm Aitken 173rd in 34.34.  At Darlington, Gillian Crane was 171st out of 199 in a new personal best of 32.36 and Joanne Richardson 176th in 33.17.  At Aberdeen, Ian Codling was 146th out of 186 in 30.21 with Marian Codling 171st in 34.42.

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
