Race Report 28/11/17

New Club Chairman, Duncan Fothergill, has been on a mission this year, to achieve running 1000 miles, and in doing so, raise money for Teenage Cancer and Bloodwise.  His mission was accomplished at the weekend with the final mile of the Fountains Abbey Park Run, followed in the evening with a charity auction and fish and chip supper.  After vigorous bidding for some superb “lots”, an excellent social evening concluded with the accumulation over the year of £10 000 for his charities, a fantastic effort.    Duncan didn’t quite manage a PB at the Park Run but he did finish 59th out of 331 in 23.38, supported by 13 of his club colleagues.  His ever improving son, Joshua led the way in a very good 3rd place, and he did manage a PB 17.34, making his father very proud.  Evergreen Rob Burn came 28th in 21.28, Lorraine Hiles 40th in 22.11, Ian Crane 54th in 23.27, Craig Ivey 84th in PB 25.01, Linda Bamforth 183rd in 29.13, Christine Burn 189th in 29.26, Paul Adams 195th in 30.15, Steve Isaac 207th in 30.46, Gillian Crane 211th in 30.58, Sharon Keegan 239th in 32.38, Drikus van der Westhuisen 280th in 34.42 and Naomi Wood 317th in 38.25.  Phillip Craig came 65th out of 96 at Northallerton in 33.46, and Charlotte Wilton was once again in fine form at Albert Park, 43rd, and 1st lady, out of 269 in 20.56.  Trish Radford did a PB at Rushmere, 81st out of 157 in 30.00.  Ian and Marian Codling had their annual visit to the friendly and small scale Ravenstonedale 10k, a testing, hilly road race, on a cold, bright day with snow on surrounding fields and hills.  Ian, still carrying an injury, managed 212th out of 216 in 74.46 and Marian 215th in 78.12.
