Race Report 20/06/17

Race 3 of the HDSRL took place at Wetherby (Sicklinghall) on Wednesday, hosted by Wetherby AC on another very warm evening.  There was once again a good turnout, with 447 finishers, over a course with a couple of very testing hills!  There were 29 Harriers for this latest Club Championship race, with Cameron Choules, in good form now, first club finisher, 36th in 27.35, Stephan Tomaszewski 70th in 28.52, Rob Burn 138th in 31.33, Charlotte Wilton 144th in 32.03, Martyn Coy 181st in 33.09, Hilary Coventry 202nd in 34.11, Sonja van der Westhuisen 227th in 34.57, Dave Baker 230th in 35.09, Steven Scott 251st in 36.04, Fran Jeffery 270th in 36.57, Phillip Craig and Marc Davies, given the same time, 276th in 37.16, Andy Butcher 327th in 39.06, David Tervitt 332nd in 39.18, Nicola Booth 335th in 39.31, Nigel Morgan 339th in 39.35, Faith Coy 348th in 40.13, Heather Bell 360th in 40.39, Alison Butcher and Jill Libby both given the same time, 371st in 41.18, Steve Booth 382nd in 41.50, Sara Langstaff 386th in 42.14, Christine Burn 422nd in 45.43, Drikus van der Westhuisen 428th in 46.59, Cath Lumb 435th in 48.27, Tracy Hayden 437th in 48.40, Gillian Crane 440th in 50.11, Ian Codling 442nd in 50.35 and Marian Codling 447th in 56.11.

Three members were among the several thousand at the Hull 10k on Sunday, with runners grateful to the local people who sprayed runners with hosepipes along the route!  In spite of the heat, Richard Harry had a good run to finish in125th  43.15, Andy Butcher 894th in 53.15 and Alison Butcher, somehow managing to achieve a PB in such conditions, 1256th in 57.23.  Very well done.

It was just as hot for the Newton Aycliffe 10k, where Ian Codling came 327th out of 346 in 75.34 and Marian Codling 342nd in 84.11.

Fountains Abbey Park Run had its usual large field, 365 this week on a warm morning, with Paul Adams 255th in 30.54, Tracy Hayden 286th in 32.44, Gillian Crane 303rd in 33.47, Ian Codling 320th in 35.19, Gary Dunn – first time ever he’s finished behind Ian, but he was supporting his wife, Helen, on her first ever run, and came 339th in 37.23 with Marian Codling 345th in 38.28 – happy to be under 40 minutes again!  At Albert Park, Charlotte Wilton was 27th out of 252, and 2nd F, in 21.06.  Peter Richardson was at the Tring event and came 99th out of 386 in 26.51.  Three members were among the massive field of 503 for the inaugural Catterick Parkrun at Catterick racecourse, with Phillip Craig 223rd in 26.10, and Joanne Richardson 429th and Liz Stephenson 455th, given the same time of 59.59, as were all finisher from 341st onwards.  Presumably the numbers and the laps were quite overwhelming!

On June 10th at the tough Wainstones Half Marathon, part of the Hardmoors Series, Bryan Miller had a wonderful run to finish 3rd out of 161 in 2.02.06, with Alan Simpson 52nd in 2.48.03 and Phillip Craig 116th in 3.18.13.
