Alan Simpson had a very busy weekend – on Saturday he was among the 411 runners of Wharfedale Trail Half Marathon, starting at Grassington, partly along the Dales Way and Mastiles Lane, and with 2000 feet of ascents. He finished 270th in 2.22.58.The following day, he was 48th out of the field of 142 at the Mulgrave Castle 10k in 52.43, certainly a shorter distance but a real toughie, with constant climbs and descents, along the woodland trails in the grounds of the castle – a beautiful run on a beautiful morning.
