Phil Shines At Snake 10

Four Harriers were among the 695 finishers of the popular Snake Lane 10 at Pocklington, full well before the closing date for entries.  Sunday was a perfect morning for the mainly flat race with just a little climb towards the end, and Phil Utley, in a fine vein of form just now, achieved a personal best time for the distance of 60.04 in 36th place, a full 4 minutes better than his previous best.  It might have been even quicker, and he might have dipped under the hour, if someone in a mobility scooter had not been negotiating a 3 point turn on the finish line just as he was running in!  Walter Busuttil, another runner getting back to top form, came 60th in  a very good 63.07, and Alison Calvert, 318th in 76.33 and Alan Harman, 411th in 81.29, were both highly delighted with their performances.
More than 20 Harriers were taking part in the Commondale Clart Fell Race that morning but those results are not yet to hand.
Meanwhile, attention is focussed on the Thirsk 10 Road Race on March 25th, with final preparations well in hand.  The race starts at 11 am,with an off-road Fun Run beginning at 10 am, both races based at Thirsk Racecourse.  Entries are still being taken.
