Pete Takes A Trip To Ambleside Sports Day

Another warm day saw 793 runners complete the Wetherby 10k, a fairly flat multi-terrain race with the wind a definite factor. Paul Atkinson was first club finisher, 70th in 42.27 with Rob Burn 103rd in 44.16, Christine Burn 526th in 58.32 and Ian Codling 613th in 62.05.   The previous weekend, when it was even warmer, 2598 runners completed the flat Teesspride 10k at Middlesbrough.  Les Sutton-Haigh came 361st in 46.14,  Alison Calvert 417th in 46.29,  Tom Calvert 523rd in 48.02 and Nik Sutton-Haigh 906th in 53.11.
Pete Wilkin, meanwhile, cycled to the village of Cray, near Buckden, for the fell race from Cray up Buckden Pike and back and finished 11th in 30.13.  Noel Clough, also at that race, came 9th in 28.15 – Pete was pleased to have a ride home in Noel’s car after the race!
Earlier in the summer, at Ambleside Sports, Pete entered the Rydal Round, a tough 9 mile race up to Fairfield and back, finishing 39th out of 126 in 1 hour 53 minutes.  An hour later, in another 2 mile out and back fell race, he finished 3rd V50.
Apologies to Chris Sykes for missing his name off the list of results for the Sessay Swift 6k.  He came 49th in 39.22 minutes.
