Monday 5th May.  No organised Club training session.

Wednesday 7th May. Athletic Club.  7pm.
We have to remember not everyone will want to or  be able to run on Thursday at Ilkley so I will take a group on the cricket field. We can mix a light session with a hard  session so we can all have a bit of a work out together. I think the fell season has also started so things are starting to get just a little bit busy.

Thursday 8th May
The first HDSRL fixture at Ilkley. Transport will leave the Athletic Club car park at 6pm. For those wishing to run and have not preregistered see your team captains Martyn or Claire and they will point you in the right direction. The rest of you please remember to bring your numbers and you must wear your club vest. The race itself consists of a 1 mile uphill start followed by a fast 4 mile finish. Don’t go too hard on the uphill and you will be just fine.

Last night we had a new recording system for the time trial at Sutton bank and I’m told it worked very well. With a little bit of fine tuning we will continue to use this system. Thank you for your patience. We also now have a fixed point to run to and now, both Sutton Bank and Station Road are exactly the same distance. ( 2 mile)

Last week end quite a few club members ran the Fountains 10k. Not a Pb course but good training for the Ripon 10 miler in a couple of weeks time. It surprises me when you are shin deep in mud how people struggle to keep their balance. I usually find the shortest route is nearly always the best so just go for it. I think we had a runner who lost a shoe on the moor top but I won’t tell them who it was Claire!  At the finish we all collected a technical skin tight training top and the fun was trying them on straight after the race. You needed a size at least two times bigger than you think needed. There could be people still trying to get out of them at this very moment.

Anyone fancy joining me for a bacon breakfast on Saturday morning? I still need to loose 11 seconds on my 5k time so I’m going to have another go at Fountains.

See you soon,
Rob

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
