Rob’s weekly blog and training update w/c 16/01/17

Monday 16th January. 7pm School gym.  I hear Jody, Drikus and Sonja are putting something together and with the bad weather forecast then it is perhaps we are as well inside.

Wednesday 18th January. 7pm. School Sports Hall.   Similar to last week, slowly building. Please, if you are in the outside group then take off or clean your shoes before you come back inside the building. It was like tracking a heard of buffalo last week, I’ve not had any complaints yet but I’m expecting some!! Otherwise, keep enjoying the pain!

Sunday 15th January.  Another club championship race. Cross country, Ormesby Hall, Middlesbrough. TS7 9AS should get you somewhere near. A message says use Church Lane if that helps. There are races for all age groups down to about 8 with the first race at 1pm. Numbers are increasing right across all age groups so I would expect it to be busy. Please check your start time and try and arrive early. I don’t know about the course but it looks like being more like trail than country, it should be fast. Have a good look beforehand to see what type of shoe you need to wear, half way around the first lap in the race is the wrong time to decide you are wearing the wrong shoes!  At a rough guess I would think a light stud or road shoe will be fine. It also says look out for tree roots but my experience of trail and country means you have to look out for everything, you have to concentrate all the time. See your team captains if you need to register (or me) and don’t forget to bring your vest.

See you all Sunday, Rob

Hello club members and friends of the Thirsk 10 road race. We would just like to provide a brief update to inform everybody that for obvious reasons the Thirsk 10 race will not be held in March 2021 however, we intend to reassess the situation in the Spring with a view to holding the event later in the year subject to national and local restrictions in place at the time. We apologise for the disappointment this will undoubtably cause, however I am sure that everybody appreciates that the Covid 19 Pandemic is a fluid situation with rules and restrictions seemingly changing on a daily basis. We will provide a further update in once we have been able to consider matters. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times, keep running and stay safe. The Thirsk 10 Team.
