SUNDAY 20TH MAY
Maybe a rest weekend – between Ripon hilly 10 miler and Melmerby 10k fast flatty

Or maybe Whitsun Woodland Run, Wynyard Woodland Park, Stockton-on-Tees
Starts at 10am; 6.5miles www.racebest.com/races/whitsun-woodland-trail-run

MONDAY 21ST MAY
White Horse car park. 6.45pm. Interval circuit in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Those who are helping set up could you please arrive for a briefing at 6pm. We should complete in around 30 mins.

There will be people running around the three different circuits at 6.45pm. Please stand aside as it is only a timed test run to check and see if it works and how long it takes. This will allow for a little fine tuning and final adjustments. These are Heather, Josh F and Tom. Please arrive before 6.30pm.

The photo shoot will take part at 7pm prompt at the south side of the car park to allow having the White Horse in the back ground. This will be followed by an explanation of what we are doing, warm ups and then hope to start at around 7.20pm.

We will be setting up two main courses with the option of opening a third if all is going well and we get a good turnout. Each course will consist of up to seven (more if I can think of them) different tasks or exercises for you to do on each lap and will take around 3 minutes to complete. At the end of each lap you will have a recovery and then do it over again. It will be set up for all abilities. I will set the clock for 40 minutes. You can all do this!

The course will be marked out so as not to stand on bluebells, primroses etc so please don’t go in these areas otherwise just follow the markers.

Once you enter the starting gates try not to stop until you reach and go through the exit gate. It doesn’t matter if you walk but try and keep moving. There will be spotters on the course to help and assist you if you require any help.

As this is a charity and fun event it is hoped quite a few of you will turnout but you can also bring a friend or anyone else who may enjoy the night. Anyone and everyone will be made welcome but please ask them to bring a few nibbles for afterwards because I don’t like sharing! You will also need to bring warm clothes as it is a very, very cold place, especially in summer.

All those who turn up on the night will have their names put into a draw for a surprise prize. I like surprises.

I would just be asking for donations and whatever is raised on the night the committee have agreed to equal it which essentially doubles the money.

If will be fun, it will be exciting and I’m hoping you will enjoy it.

TUESDAY 22ND MAY
Social run from Thirsk and Sowerby leisure centre at 7pm (meet in foyer). Mostly off road depending on the weather. Suitable for all abilities; there will be several stops to run back/regroup, no-one runs by themselves or gets left behind. New and returning Tuesday night runners always welcome.
Route to be decided on the night, around 5 miles. Please wear high vis if you have it. Trail shoes not essential but can be worn if you have them.

WEDNESDAY 23RD MAY
7pm Athletic Club. 2 x 12 x 30 seconds/ with a rolling 30 seconds recovery done back to back/ 3 minutes between sets. Get this one right you will enjoy it. Get it wrong then you will hate it.

SUNDAY 27TH MAY
34th Melmerby 10K Road Race & 2 1/4 Mile Fun Run – 11:30 am
http://www.melmerbyrun.org/index.php
Undulating one lap course through the picturesque surroundings of Melmerby Village starting and finishing at the village hall. A popular event in which many competitors have achieved either SB’s or PB’s in the previous years.

Message from the chairman:
I’m really enjoying my running at the moment, I even found a 10 miler enjoyable – well what’s not to like about running around Fountains and Studley! This time last year I was struggling with my 1000 mile challenge, yet this year “run at least a mile a day” I find myself hitting 42 miles this week and loving every mile. Aiming for a 48 minute 10k (pb), but I’m not quite there YET.
Cheers
Duncan

Message from the head-coach:
Chuffing Nora! I did it! I got one! A pb. On completion of the Ripon 10, sorry 10.21 mile race last weekend my watch gave me a smacking big fastest long run since buying the watch. Yes, I know I’ve only had the watch two years and yes, it was only by two seconds a mile but I’m having it. So, there you are. Ripon 10.21-mile race is a pb race. and I wouldn’t lose too much sleep if I didn’t have to run it again. Gosh, it’s a tough one! (yes, I’m still aching)
See you all soon, Rob
