Rob’s weekly blog and training update w/c 19/11/18

Advance note: We as a club are part of Thirsk Athletes Club (TAC) and from time to time we need to provide members to cover the bar for other clubs with TAC. On Saturday 1st December we need members to cover the bar, if you are interested please see either myself, Stephan Tomaszewski, Nigel Morgan or Paul Goacher. Training would be provided prior to the night.

3pm Anti clockwise run around lake Buttermere. (This is for those going to the lakes. It's not an extra training night). Dare I say it, but we can watch the sun go down as we run along the Eastern shore and in the back of your mind you want to be first back to ensure you get some water in your room before it's time to go down for dinner. Don't forget to give Wilma a wave as you come across the 66, she's the one with long tongue, floppy nose and hairy back!!! Safe journey to you all, Rob.

If you are running and are not yet registered, then the league has asked if only team captains put your names forward. This saves explaining how it should be done each time someone comes forward.

6.30pm White Horse car park.
4.00pm Marking out. We could possibly do with a couple more enthusiastic volunteers to help mark out. Having good eyesight would be an advantage.
6.30pm Registration onwards. Also use this time to walk the course and even do a little warming up.
7.00pm briefing with a 7.10 pm start. A 40 minute session with recoveries to suit!!
It is quite possible to take part without confronting any obstacles or even exercises but please stay on the short course or you could be in for a surprise. We have tried to make it user friendly for everyone, It can be as easy or as difficult as you want. Taking part is the main ingredient!! At whatever level, you are going to enjoy it. I expect the stronger athletes to be using the longer course and also doing the most exercises. This is the night to fill your boots but be careful as you go over the top!!
You need to bring a head torch, a mug, shoes to stand up in on uneven ground, a change of dry clothing and maybe a couple of bob for the pub afterwards!!

Social run from Thirsk and Sowerby leisure centre at 7pm (meet in foyer) on well-lit paths and pavements. Suitable for all abilities; there will be several stops to run back/regroup, no-one runs by themselves or gets left behind. New and returning Tuesday night runners always welcome.
Route to be decided on the night, around 5 miles. Please wear high vis if you have it.

7pm Osgodby Bank car park. Kilburn road. Monthly time trial. The school is out of bounds tonight so we have brought the time trial forward. It is full moon so it could be seeing but bring your head torch just in case.

7pm sharp, Kilburn Woods, Osgodby car park. Dress for the weather and bring a head torch.

Bring a clean jumper and some beer tokens for refreshments at the Forresters Arms afterwards.

Eskdale Eureka (In aid of CMRT); Eskdale Inn, Langburn's Bank, Castleton YO21 2EU – 10:30am

A medium distance fell race (nearly 13km/8 miles) over the North Yorkshire Moors with nearly 500m of climb. Don't underestimate the NY Moors in the winter.
