Rob’s weekly blog and training update w/c 10/09/18

SUNDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER
Good luck to those members running the Great North Run today. Hope you enjoy the day/
The Simplyhealth Great North Run is the biggest half marathon in the UK and the World with over 57,000 runners taking part in the famous 13.1 mile – And you are part of it!!

MONDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER
6.50’ish Thirsk School, Topcliffe road.
Football field, that’s just to the left of the car park. I did hear rumours of a 24 minute RAF circuit but they might just have been rumours!! If the weather is fine we should be able to get a full session in..

TUESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER
Social run from Thirsk and Sowerby leisure centre at 7pm (meet in foyer). Mostly off road depending on the weather. Suitable for all abilities; there will be several stops to run back/regroup, no-one runs by themselves or gets left behind. New and returning Tuesday night runners always welcome.
Route to be decided on the night, around 5 miles. Please wear high vis if you have it. Trail shoes not essential but can be worn if you have them.

WEDNESDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER
6.50’ish Thirsk School, Topcliffe road. I’m trying to get a full session in.
I hope to set it up as last week with three different groups, this will help the newer coaches gain a little confidence which we will all benefit from. Please join your “pitch” as you arrive and get straight into warm ups. We can have a chat while we do a little core work shortly afterwards. The interval session will once again be around 24 minutes.

This week I want to try grouping similar paced runners into small groups within a group. I’ll explain why on the night.

Message from the chairman:
Tholthorpe 10k; well done everyone, it was a hot one. I was gutted to have missed the race on Sunday due to illness. However, I managed to walk to mile 2 and see most of you run by. I always enjoy watching races and it was great to see and listen to a guy, who was stood in the middle of the road with his guitar, singing his heart out. May be Rob could sing at Busby Stoop during the Thirsk 10 ?

First Aid Course
I’m trying to organise a Sports Emergency First Aid course at the Athletic club. This is a 3hr course, the club will pay the fee and it will take place at night in either September or October, but I need to know names and numbers ASAP. We are allowed a maximum of twelve in the group and I have two names so far. Once I know there is an interest then I can start looking for dates. You can reply via this email because Fran likes to hear from you all from time to time!!!
Cheers Rob
